Duravit Historie
In 2017, Duravit looked back on 200 years of company history. In 1817, the company was founded by Georg Friedrich Horn in Hornberg. The first years, until 1842 to be exact, were focused exclusively on the production of earthenware tableware. Duravit still shows these roots in its current logo, which features a capercaillie that also appeared in a different form in the original logo of the stoneware factory. The company has carried the Duravit brand name since 1960 and even made it to the stock exchange in 1988. Duravit has developed rapidly over the years and today has 35 associated companies and a presence in over 120 countries. So it's probably no surprise that Duravit works with top designers such as Philippe Starck, Eoos, Cecile Manz, sieger design, Sir Norman Foster, Phoenix Design, Matteo Thun, Christian Werner or even Kurt Merki Junior.

Innovative technology from Duravit
Duravit is constantly striving to improve its products. In doing so, Duravit already offers a number of innovations, such as an automatic lowering or soft-close mechanism on your toilet seat. A light tap on the toilet seat is all it takes for it to lower automatically and close gently and silently. With the shower surfaces, you have the option of equipping them with the AntiSlip coating, so that the risk of slipping in the shower is noticeably reduced. Duravit also offers an innovative solution in the area of shower toilets, which is increasingly in demand in Germany and is already standard in Asia: SensoWash. SensoWash stands for the most natural form of hygiene with water.
Rimless WC
Like almost all WC manufacturers, Duravit has its own rimless solution to offer, the Rimless design. Here, Duravit Rimless technology proves how pure efficiency can be achieved with a successful interplay of geometry, fluid dynamics and design. Duravit Rimless is rimless and enables open rim design with a powerful, dynamic flow of water that describes a horizontal circle before the water drains vertically.
Durafix
Duravit WCs and bidets are really fixed in place using the Durafix fixing system. The special feature of this patented system: the fastening remains completely invisible and the result is a smooth ceramic surface all around without any disturbing elements. Meanwhile, Duravit also has a solution for fixing pedestals.
c-bonded
A frequently used term at Duravit is "c-bonded". Using a revolutionary technology developed by Duravit itself, of course, the vanity and base are bonded together in a way never seen before. Precise and accurate to the millimeter, the furniture starts exactly where the ceramic ends.
DuraSolid
The DuraSolid material consists mainly of natural materials. The individual raw materials are mixed in the DuraSolid Center under computer control and prepared for the casting process. Duravit thus obtains a homogeneous casting compound, which is poured into appropriate molds. After two drying stages, the blank created there can be further processed. The end result is a uniquely colored product with a monolithic appearance. DuraSolid is said to have an anti-slip surface structure, which provides an additional safety aspect. The material also stands for durability and a high level of stability, so DuraSolid is mainly used in shower and bathtub applications. Philippe Starck quickly recognized the potential of this material and was inspired to create a completely new design language. The result was a three-dimensional bathtub that will enhance your bathroom like a work of art. The Cape Cod bathtub is a trend-setting step in the further development of smart design.
The Duravit special coating
In addition to the classic white hand wash basins and WCs, you can also select special surfaces from Duravit to enhance products such as wash basins or WCs. In addition to the WonderGliss coating, the HygieneGlaze finish is also available for bathroom ceramics. Duravit WonderGliss is a coating for ceramic products that ensures that the products remain beautiful and clean for a particularly long time. With the water, all residues such as dirt and limescale simply flow off, so there are fewer deposits to complain about. In contrast, the HygieneGlaze surface is particularly suitable for bathrooms or rooms where the highest level of hygiene is required. This surface is mainly available for a wall-mounted toilet and urinal. It is not a purely superficial coating, but an antibacterial ceramic glaze that is effective for an almost unlimited period of time. With this special coating, the bathroom ceramics are reliably protected and can thus score with an even longer service life.
