Find the right hand basin

Hand-washing basins are small basins that usually hang "alone" on the wall. Only a few people combine the small basins with substructures, but there is certainly a wide range of matching furniture. They are usually fitted with a short wall spout or a small tap, which then usually even works purely as a cold water valve.

What are hand basins suitable for?

Hand basins are particularly suitable for small bathrooms or guest bathrooms. In the large bathroom, which is usually used for physical cleaning by the whole family, a large washbasin makes much more sense. The primary function of the small basins, however, is washing hands. In addition, the guest bathroom is usually a small to very small space. Here it makes sense to avoid overly opulent washbasins. Even though these may offer a special eye-catcher, they simply take up too much space - both visually and spatially.

What forms of hand wash basins are there?

Hand basins come in many shapes. The most popular are the following:
  • Square
  • Oval
  • Round
The advantage with them is that they fit perfectly into almost any bathroom design. Oval or round washbasins fit perfectly into bathrooms where soft shapes predominate. If the focus is on straight lines, then angular washbasins are the right choice.

With or without tap hole?

The decision for or against a basin with a tap hole is one that is based on personal preference. For example, it can look appealing if the tap is placed above the basin. Particularly with individual furnishings, this offers more scope. But washbasin solutions in which the tap is attached to the basin above the tap hole also have charm. Especially if they are mounted offset, for example. In this way, the washbasins can be mounted anywhere in the room without looking out of place. Offset taps are a particularly good option in corners. This also creates more storage space for necessary bathroom utensils such as a soap dispenser.

Small hand basins - What are the dimensions?

The dimensions of hand basins are about 30 to 45 centimetres. Their primary task - washing hands - does not require more space. This is why the basins are mainly used in guest toilets.
