What is a shower arm?

A shower arm is used to attach the overhead or rain shower. They are mounted on the wall or ceiling. On the one hand, they connect the shower head to the water supply, on the other hand, they align the shower head and hold it in the desired position. Today there are numerous variants that differ both in design and functionality. Thus, everyone can find a shower arm that meets individual requirements and perfectly fits into the home bathroom design.

Shower arm for the ceiling

If the choice falls on a shower arm for the ceiling, the water supplies for the head and hand shower run independently of each other. With the ceiling shower, the customer can decide individually where in the shower area it will be mounted. Some prefer the shower head near the holder for the hand shower, despite the independence of the wall connections. Others take advantage of this flexibility and decide to place the shower arm, and thus the overhead shower, centrally on the ceiling of the shower area. This has the advantage of giving the greatest possible freedom of movement while showering.

Shower arm for rain shower

Shower arms are also suitable for overhead showers that function as rain showers. The difference between classic  overhead showers and rain showers lies in the intensity with which the water rains down on the body. In the case of rain shower, the water falls softer on the body, the temperature is also freely selectable here. However, if it is to be a larger model of a rain shower, it makes sense to purchase it as a whole system. This includes, for example, rain panels. This means that here then the rain panel is supplemented by flush-mounted elements to enable smooth operation.

Shower arm for the wall

In addition to mounting the shower arm on the ceiling, it is also possible to place it on the wall. These shower arms are usually longer than those for the ceiling. The reason for this is that they must have a certain distance from the wall. Only in this way is it possible to have a pleasant shower. Therefore, many models are at least 30 cm long. The shower arms for the wall are always aligned so that even from this the water vertically pours from above onto the body. Especially the shower arms attached to the wall differ visually. Thus, the shower arm can be curved or follow a clear design.

Wall connection elbow

In addition to shower arms for the wall, there is also a wall connection elbow, which is not a shower arm in the conventional sense. Rather, it is the connecting element of the water pipe behind the wall and the connection to the hose in front of the wall. It does not, however, connect to an overhead or ceiling shower, but is usually used to transport water for hand showers or multifunctional overhead and hand showers.

The role of your bathroom

When it comes to home furnishings, the bathroom is being given an increasingly important role. Whereas in the past it was merely a room to meet daily needs, many people now want to feel completely at home here. Today, the bathroom takes on a central role. This can be in the form of a spa with an integrated sauna or pool, or classic with a cozy bathtub or shower. Depending on how much space is available, the demands on one's bathroom vary.
